When I was a kid, I was told never to trust what anybody says online. As far as I was concerned, every person who anonymously messaged me was a criminal who would harm me. I believed that earnestly in elementary school, but you can't maintain that delusion about every anon by the time you become old enough to talk someone off the ledge over Tumblr messages.
The general population has taken a complete 180 regarding online stranger danger. Instead of taking everything you hear from a poster with a grain of salt, millennials, Gen Zers, Gen Xers, and Baby Boomers are seeking the counsel of internet strangers for critical life problems. Instead of using their brains to figure out if they should take their baby to the doctor's office, the moms behind these entertaining parenting posts are asking complete strangers and following their advice as if they were trusted friends.
