Good day to all you Tolkien-heads. Did you know that it has been revealed that Tolkien almost wrote a sequel to The Lord of the Rings? Called The New Shadow, the book was set 100 years after the events of the original trilogy and was intended to focus more on the political side of things, but was scrapped after only 13 pages after Tolkien decided it wasn't worth doing. Just imagine, if he had stuck to it the intrepid fandom would have had even more material to meme into oblivion many decades later. As it stands, though, the characters, lore, and storyline of Middle-earth are plenty rich enough for all the funniness that we enjoy these days. Who needs all the bloated fantasizing of yet another movie or Amazon Prime series when there is already so much in the LOTR universe to enjoy? The memes can only underline the importance of that.
